New Sales and Operations appointments for 7 Day Catering

February 2009

7 Day Catering have made several new additions to their management team as the company looks set for significant growth in 2009.

Nigel Grayson joins as Sales Manager, working on driving new business in the North East and Yorkshire areas. Formerly at regional caterer P&A, Nigel has wide experience in contract catering and has previously worked for Autograph.

Two new Operations Managers join the existing team in managing the company’s increasing number of contracts, which is now nearing 200. Chris Veal will be overseeing business in the South East and Ian Eke, who was previously Support Manager for 7 Day, will be responsible for contracts in the South West.

Challenge and Opportunity in 2009

January 2009

7 Day Catering would like to wish all a happy, healthy and successful 2009.

2008 was a challenging year, starting with worldwide food and fuel price increases way above the expectations and predictions of any industry speculators and ending with the UK sliding deep into recession on the back of a worldwide financial crisis. There seems little doubt that the situation will get worse before it gets better.

However, as a company, we have faired relatively well. Even though our turnover is linked to that of our clients and even though we have quite a few manufacturing based customers who are experiencing very difficult times, our business has so far held up comparatively well. We were expecting some food price increases so we pro-actively managed this with our clients to ensure we continued to meet their needs of being cost effective whilst continuing to offer a consistently high standard of food quality and superb service.

There is little doubt that 2009 will be equally challenging, but as a team we are very well positioned in the marketplace to take advantage of the opportunities that a recession always brings. We have a healthy stream of business in the pipeline and sales appointments continue to flow at above average levels. Certainly, some of these enquiries will prove to be no more than ‘bench-marking’ exercises but we know that a good number will lead to profitable new business in 2009.

During 2008 we exceeded our sales targets and we presently see no reason to alter the sales and profit targets we set 2 years ago for 2009. That said however, we will remain flexible and continue to closely monitor performance indicators so that 7 Day Catering is always ready to take full advantage of all the possible opportunities that will (not might)  arise. As the UK enters what could be a long and deep recession we remain optimistic and ‘up beat’ about our business and I can assure you we will continue to grow the business in a planned and responsible manner.

Henry Watts, Managing Director
